In this role, you will assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day management of the store, focusing on growing sales, staffing, merchandising, and expense control. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will operate the store in alignment with Company policies, government legislation, and collective agreements, while contributing to a culture of inclusivity and excellence. What You’ll Do Support the Store Manager in achieving sales, profit, and margin targets, as well as shrink and labor goals. Implement merchandising programs, processes, and procedures to optimize operations and profitability. Collaborate with Department Managers to set productivity goals and ensure adherence to operational standards. Hire, train, and mentor a customer-focused team. Create a positive shopping environment by modeling and promoting excellent customer service. Direct, coach, and develop team members to excel in their roles. Maintain the store in compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards. Ensure operations adhere to company policies, government legislation, and collective agreements. Lead store initiatives that enhance community involvement and the store's reputation as a community supporter. Monitor local market competition and provide recommendations to address any competitive challenges. Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and union business representatives. Actively adopt and ensure team proficiency with new technologies and tools. Qualifications College or University degree preferred. 3–5 years of progressive management experience in retail (grocery experience an asset). Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Strong business acumen with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities. Proven time management skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
