T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 10 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
 
The Role

The Contracts Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer, CFO of the company. The primary responsibilities of this role are to successfully draft and negotiate complex procurement contracts, which outline the outcome of negotiations with supplier(s) and lead contract restructuring to reflect all commercial and legal changes.

This role requires the individual to work with multiple stakeholders in T&T and Loblaw, including, Business Stakeholders, Privacy, Security, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Finance, and the Legal department to ensure that the terms and conditions stated in contracts are in line with T&T’s standard strategic objectives.

Major Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate required agreements include Master Agreements, complex Statements of Work, Ordering Documents etc. based on contract law, company policy and feedback from Business Stakeholders of the company
  • Analyze and ensure legal terms in all contracts are in line with category and procurement objectives as well as legal requirements and policies
  • Perform ongoing review of new and existing supplier contracts for improvement opportunities
  • Analyze potential for restructuring existing contracts for additional benefits
  • Assist with the development of contract summaries, including risk summaries for T&T Business Stakeholders
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing contracting processes and independently determine contractual method and procedures on new projects
  • Provide consultation to assist inquiries from the Business Stakeholders
  • Other tasks including maintaining contract tracker, assisting with contract related inquiries received from Business Stakeholders, including providing contract information, etc
 
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Business Administration, or other related disciplines
  • Possess 2-5 years for relevant experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management
  • Strong legal background/qualification, experience as a paralegal is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of contract provisions and risk identification on vendor papers
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiating skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Team player with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships throughout all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals
  • Ability to quickly learn about procurement contract management processes
  • Candidates with strong procurement background/qualification will also be considered
