Store Manager Richardson's Home Hardware — Nipawin, Saskatchewan Full-time, permanent, salaried annually, placement within a range based on experience and leadership | Reports directly to the Owner-Dealers The Opportunity Richardson's Home Hardware is a fourth-generation, family-owned store in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, and a growing, thriving business. We are adding our first-ever Store Manager to lead the sales floor and our team of about 20 full-time, part-time and key holder staff. This role sits directly below the Owner-Dealers and above our key holder team. You will run the daily operation of the store so the owners can focus on growing the business. A role we build together. For the first 3–6 months, you will work side by side with our owners. Responsibilities will be handed over in stages as we establish together how the role works best in our store. We expect to learn from you as much as you learn from us. We are prepared to wait for the right candidate. If you are managing a Home Hardware elsewhere in the country and want a different pace of life, or you are already in North East Saskatchewan and ready to step up, we would like to hear from you. What You'll Do Floor Operations • Run the daily operation of the sales floor, front to back • Be the on-site point of contact for staff and customers • Set daily priorities and staff assignments, and adjust them as the day changes • Supervise floor staff, key holders and cashiers throughout the day • Resolve routine customer issues directly, escalating only what needs an owner Team Leadership • Build and manage the staff schedule, balancing coverage and staff requests • Follow up on tasks and department checklists to make sure work is done to standard • Coach staff on the floor, reinforcing training and store standards • Hold staff accountable for performance and conduct, working with our HR Manager • Take part in hiring decisions alongside our HR Manager Receiving, Inventory and Merchandising • Guide the receiving crew on truck days so unloading and put-away run smoothly • Coordinate incoming freight with floor priorities, flyers and resets • Oversee inventory accuracy across the store • Bring ordering suggestions to the Owner-Dealers based on what you see on the floor • Execute merchandising and floor layout as directed by the owners, based on flyers and incoming orders • Set up flyer and promotional product, displays, bunk ends, stack-outs, signage and seasonal resets • Keep the floor full, faced, clean and correctly signedCommunication • Keep the owners informed through a regular check-in • Work alongside an experienced team member who handles returns, POS support, cashier training and specialty orders What We're Looking For Required • 3–5 years of retail management experience, with direct responsibility for staff and store operations • A proven ability to lead, schedule, coach and hold a team accountable • Comfort with retail POS, reporting and inventory systems • Sound judgment and the confidence to make a decision and stand behind it • Genuine customer service instincts — in our store, customers and staff know each other • High school graduation or equivalent Strong Assets • Home Hardware experience is highly valued, including familiarity with Home Hardware's systems and programs • Hardware or home improvement retail experience • Experience in an independent or family-owned business • Small-town or rural retail experience Schedule This is a full-time salaried role, five days a week, with some weekends required. Expect longer days during spring and seasonal peaks, and flexibility for flyer setups, resets and truck days. Compensation & What We Offer • Salary placement within the range based on experience and leadership • Extended health, dental, paramedical and vision coverage • Life insurance and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) • Staff discount • 3 weeks' paid vacation from your first year • Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate • A structured 3–6 month onboarding working directly with the Owner-Dealers • Room to grow: as the role matures, so does your scope, with regular performance reviews along the way • A real voice in how the business is run, and long-term stability with a business hiring for the long haul Why Nipawin If you are reading this from a city, here is the honest pitch. Nipawin sits on the Saskatchewan River in North East Saskatchewan, surrounded by boreal forest and some of the best fishing water in the country. Tobin Lake is a short drive and draws anglers from across North America. Your commute is five minutes, and you can buy a house on one income rather than rent one on two.The town itself is a few thousand people, with a hospital, schools, an airport and a community that shows up for each other. Our store serves a trading area of about 25,000, so the pace is real and the work matters. It is not for everyone, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. But if you have been trading quality of life for a paycheque that does not stretch, this is a genuine reset. How to Apply Send your resume and a short note about why this role interests you to sarah.chalus@homehardware.ca. This posting is open until the right candidate is hired, and applications are reviewed as they arrive. Questions about the role, the store or moving to Nipawin are welcome before you apply. Richardson's Home Hardware is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; those selected for an interview will be contacted.
