About the role
Responsibilities: To ensure outstanding, courteous customer service is provided at all times to all internal and external customers. Slice meats and cheeses to order, weigh and package items, and price them using portion scales. Maintaining suitable inventory levels, receiving deliveries, stocking deli items. To maintain and display all types of deli products according to standards. Preparing and cooking a variety of fried and/or baked foods (i.e., chicken, potato wedges, rotisserie chicken). To be familiar with and adhere to all sanitation and personal hygiene policies of the Co-operative and Government legislation. Any other duties needed to help to drive Gateway Co-ops vision and abide by our co-operatives values of responsibility, respect and excellence.CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION & TRAINING:- Grade 12 or GED equivalent- Deli and/or fry cook experience is considered an asset.- Must possess or willing to obtain Foodwise certification.WORKING CONDITIONS:- Will require standing for long periods.- Will require to be able to lift (unaided) weights up to 23 kgs (50 lbs.)- Will require to use hazardous equipment (i.e., meat slicer, deep fryer, rotisserie oven, use of knives)- Will be required to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as scheduled.
