Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our optical team at HC Eyecare located in Tsawwassen Mills Mall. The ideal candidate will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, provide exceptional customer service, and support the overall operations of the optical practice. Prior experience with optical products and retail sales is preferred, along with a strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye care.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their prescription needs and personal style preferences
• Measure and fit eyewear accurately, ensuring proper alignment and comfort
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, explaining lens options, and guiding patients through their purchase process
• Maintain knowledge of current optical products, trends, and technological advancements
• Prepare and process eyewear orders using laboratory equipment and software systems such as Epic or similar platforms
• Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and placing orders for supplies as needed
• Collaborate with optometrists and other staff to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery
• Keep the optical area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and vision care
• Laboratory experience with lens cutting, edging, or fitting is highly desirable
• Prior optical experience or retail sales background preferred, demonstrating excellent customer service skills
• Ability to operate optical equipment efficiently and accurately
• Familiarity with retail management principles to assist in inventory control and sales processes
• Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is a plus
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and vendors
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and fitting procedures
