Job Summary The Assistant Manager, Inventory & Purchasing is responsible for overseeing retail inventory management, loss prevention systems, and vendor relationships across all retail outlets at Grouse Mountain. With a strong focus on analytics, process improvement, and stock control, this role supports profitability, loss prevention, and operational efficiency across the retail department. While inventory management is the primary responsibility for this role, excellent customer service and staff leadership are also essential elements. Works closely with the Retail Manager, and Assistant Manager, Store Operations, to achieve departmental KPIs and create memorable guest experiences. Essential Job Functions Oversee all inventory management processes across retail outlets and storage locations Develop and maintain loss prevention measures, inventory control systems, and reporting processes Receive and process orders and invoices in a timely manner Manage regular purchasing and inventory levels to align with sales trends, seasonal demand, and business goals Support and develop vendor relationships Analyze inventory data, sales trends, and KPIs to drive decision-making Collaborate with Store Operations team to coordinate receiving, processing, and distribution of all incoming merchandise Conduct regular inventory counts and oversee annual stock-taking processes Ensure accuracy of stock levels through regular audits and reconciliations with the Accounting Department Manage warranty claims, special orders, and vendor communications Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies Foster a positive team culture aligned with company values Support cross-department collaboration and communication All other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of Retail Supervisors, Key Holders, and Retail Associates. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES 2–3 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or supply chain roles Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role Experience in retail buying considered an asset Strong analytical and reporting skills Experience with inventory systems, databases, and reconciliation processes High attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and process improvement skills Strong communication and vendor relationship management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); Power BI/SQL an asset Ability to lift 40 lbs and support physical inventory processes Ability to work flexible hours, including opening, closing, weekends and holidays WORKING CONDITIONS Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks. Majority of the work is indoor work with the occasional need to be outside in the elements.
