Position Overview: The Merchandise Planner is responsible for spotting sales trends and providing the strategy and direction needed to achieve fiscal targets through multi-level action plans. This role develops financial sales strategies, gross margin plans, and sales forecasts across multiple departments. The Merchandise Planner manages merchandise sales planning, including promotional and markdown strategies, to drive sales, optimize inventory, maximize profit, and achieve sell-through goals. They also deliver in-season financial projections and identify risks and opportunities to help maximize profits throughout the season. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive seasonal sales, margin, and financial plans for multiple departments, ensuring alignment with UNIQLO’s strategic objectives and growth targets. Analyze weekly business performance, identifying emerging trends and opportunities; proactively reforecast and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional partners to drive decision-making. Design sophisticated allocation, replenishment, and inventory flow strategies that maximize sales, reduce stockouts, and support key promotional and markdown initiatives. Lead the planning and curation of strategic product assortments (item, color, size) for each category, informed by market analysis, customer insights, and seasonal concepts. Serve as a key liaison with global headquarters, presenting data-driven product proposals and advocating for assortments that align with market needs and business goals. Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and product availability to capitalize on sales opportunities and achieve sell-through objectives. Place and manage orders for both seasonal launches and ongoing replenishment, maintaining agility to adapt to changing business needs. Drive cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Store Operations, and other departments to develop and execute initiatives that deliver on sales plans, business targets, and customer experience priorities What You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in merchandise buying for fashion retail; in-store retail and store planning experience are strong assets. Bilingual in English and French is a significant advantage. Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with strong business and financial acumen; skilled at interpreting data, generating insights, and driving action through reporting. Deep understanding of current fashion trends and the ability to anticipate and respond to evolving customer needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven success collaborating across internal teams and global stakeholders. Superior organizational and time management abilities; adept at balancing multiple priorities and consistently meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, and complex data analysis). Highly independent, demonstrating strong ownership, accountability, and initiative. Results-driven, proactive, and thrives in fast-paced, high-growth settings. Experience collaborating and coordinating with teams across global time zones. Willingness to travel to store locations to gain firsthand operational insights. Annual Salary: $95,000 - $112,000 CAD The salary range is based on several factors, including but not limited to overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and the position's location.
