Seamstress / Tailor

Job Duties

• Make custom made-to-measure garments and design patterns to fit measurements for garments including, but not limited to, suits, blouses, jackets, dress shirts, dresses and pants
• Mark, cut and sew fabric
• Alterations and repairs for everyday wear garments and specialty garments such as formal dresses
• Sewing tasks such as hand embroideries, hand sewing bead/sequences, designing, sketching, making layouts
• Lead and provide training to alteration staff
• Communicate and interact with customers
• Make important alteration decisions

Job Descriptions

• Minimum of 10 years of direct experience required
• Completion of college, vocational or technical training in tailoring or dressmaking required
• Ability to sew, style and fit garments
• Must be patient and able to work efficiently using industrial machines
• Knowledge of invisible mending and hand sew is preferred
• Ability to work afternoons, evenings and weekends required
• Specialization in suits, dress shirts and formal dresses
• Speak fluent English
• Ability to provide training
