About the role

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shop Manager to oversee daily operations of our retail store. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management. This role requires a proactive approach to team management, customer service, merchandising, and store performance optimization. Bilingual skills and prior supervisory experience are highly valued to ensure effective communication with diverse customer bases and staff. The Shop Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sales, managing staff, and maintaining an organized, welcoming shopping environment.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to company policies
  • Manage team scheduling, training, and development to foster a motivated and efficient workforce
  • Oversee merchandising strategies, including product placement, pricing, and inventory management
  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained
  • Conduct recruiting efforts for new staff, participate in interviewing processes, and assist with onboarding
  • Manage payroll processing, cash handling procedures, and bookkeeping tasks accurately
  • Utilize POS systems for sales transactions and monitor sales performance metrics
  • Develop marketing initiatives to increase store visibility and sales performance
  • Implement store policies related to pricing, promotions, and sales strategies
  • Monitor store budget adherence and contribute to financial planning activities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the store environment
  • Maintain effective communication with staff through regular meetings and updates

Experience

  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail or related fields
  • Strong background in retail sales, merchandising, and store management practices
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage conflicts effectively
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage vendor relationships for purchasing needs
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse customer populations effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in time management and prioritization
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies, sales management techniques, and training & development practices
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing; phone etiquette is essential
  • Ability to analyze data using math skills for budgeting and pricing decisions
