- RRSP matching program
- Real opportunities to grow and advance within the company

About the Role
As the Regional Building Materials Purchaser, you’ll have ownership of key building material categories across your region – ensuring our stores are well-stocked, competitively priced, and operating a strong margin. You’ll make sourcing decisions, manage vendor relationships, and develop strategies to continuously improve inventory performance across the region.
This is a broader role than a store-level purchaser – you’ll work with multiple stakeholders across locations, travel within the region as needed, and bring a regional perspective to purchasing decisions that affect customer availability and business profitability. It suits someone who is analytical, self-directed, and comfortable managing complexity across a multi-site operation.
What You’ll Be Doing
Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Maintaining strong in-stock positions on key building material categories across the region
- Determining the best sourcing options based on pricing, availability, and lead times
- Working with stakeholders to supply both regular and special-order building materials for customers.
- Managing inventory budget goals through effective, timely purchasing decisions
- Using inventory analytics to improve margin and inventory turns while reducing shrink and stock-outs
- Developing strategies to reduce obsolete inventory and minimize its impact on the business
- Promoting shrink awareness and identifying potential sources of inventory loss, implementing corrective measures as required
Vendor Relationships & Collaboration
- Building and maintaining strong vendor relationships to ensure priority service, competitive pricing, and reliable supply
- Working cross-functionally with the leadership team, store employees, vendors, and customers to achieve regional inventory and margin goals
- Fostering a solutions-focused culture where team members deliver excellent service to both internal and external customers
- Travelling within the region as required to support stores, meet with vendors, and stay connected to regional market conditions
- Ensuring the health and safety of all employees by consistently following safe work practices, obtaining proper training and certification, and using PPE whenever required
- Reporting unsafe work practices or conditions immediately
What We’re Looking For
Here’s what will set you up for success in this role:
- Analytical and commercially minded – you understand how purchasing decisions ripple through inventory turns, margins, and business performance across multiple locations
- Strong negotiation and vendor relationship skills – you build productive partnerships while holding suppliers accountable to pricing and service standards
- Highly organized and self-directed with superior time management skills and the ability to manage a complex, multi-site workload independently
- A collaborative communicator who works effectively with store teams, leadership, and vendors across the region
- Comfortable with regional travel as part of the role
- Proficiency with computers and programs including Outlook, Excel, and Eagle Software (or similar inventory/purchasing systems)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Mature, responsible, curious, and driven – you proactively identify problems and see solutions through to completion
- Previous experience in inventory purchasing is a strong asset
- Knowledge of the building materials, construction products, or the building supply industry is a strong asset
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and come be part of a team that’s proud of where they work and who they serve.
