THE ROLE

Reporting to the Sr. Director of MEC Label, the Hardgoods Product Line Manager (PLM) is a key role within the product creation engine of MEC Label. The Hardgoods Product Line Manager (PLM) is the connector for the cross functional partners within MEC -including Design, Development, Sourcing, Production, Merchandising/Planning, Marketing, Logistics, and Store Operations.

The PLM will manage the MEC Label portfolio of all Hardgoods product categories (Camp, Packs, & Seasonal, Cycling), striving to build the MEC Label Brand, increase profitability, while managing the commercialization timeline and launch of new product lines. The PLM will connect closely with the Hardgoods Merchandising Team to create product assortments that support the company's financial objectives, with a specific focus on growing our key product Franchises. The PLM will own the product lifecycle management of all products that fall under the MEC Label HG portfolio, developing 12-to-36-month product roadmap in collaboration with Production, Merchandising and Planning teams to support product execution, margin targets, production planning and on-time delivery.

In addition to the responsibility of the HG product line, the PLM role will also be responsible for data entry, maintenance and integrity as well styles creation in Centric PLM and communication with cross-functional teams

  • Responsible for optimizing all aspects of the MEC Label Hardgoods product portfolio.
  • Manages the product lifecycle to maximize the revenue and profitability from all products throughout the lifecycle and ensure we're building highly profitable long-term franchises
  • Ensure that seasonal brands stories are being told in-store and online through the assortment
  • Ensure the product portfolio is aligned to meet both current and future market needs from both a product and financial perspective.
  • Create and manage the platform that allows the exchange of information between the MEC Label team and broader MEC organization to support the successful launch and ongoing delivery of product.
  • Continued PLM support on other product lines, including system data maintenance

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You can assess risk and exercise sound judgment in decision making, including substantial profit and loss responsibility.
  • You possess strong project management skills and negotiation skills.
  • You have a proven track record in project management and negotiating skills.
  • You have a passion for product and can successfully translate insights into a commercial product portfolio.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Experience in merchandising and/or assortment planning is an asset.

THE COMPENSATION & PERKS

  • The anticipated base salary range of this role is $75,500 to $90,000. The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate's relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity/store location. This role is eligible for our annual variable incentive plan.
