Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Retail Sales, the Director, Retail Sales is responsible for identifying opportunities for maximizing sales profitability, growth, and market penetration within the assigned account. The Director, Retail Sales will provide strategic direction to the team of National Account Managers and will be responsible for managing customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies and sales plans to identify opportunities to maximize sales profitability through growth and market penetration;
  • Develop incremental business with existing account;
  • Develop and build strong relationships with customers at senior levels;
  • Provide leadership to National Account Managers to drive sales and volume for retail with emphasis on profitable growth through business development;
  • Develop the annual business plan in support of annual goals and objectives;
  • Develop and execute an aggressive merchandising support plan for all existing and new proprietary products, maximizing advertising and promotional activity;
  • Responsible for reviewing and optimizing trade investments across all categories;
  • Prepare and present quarterly business status reports, plans and strategic recommendations to the VP, Retail Sales;
  • Development of customer presentations and proposals including new product proposals, business reviews
  • Effectively manage and reconcile all rebates, allowances, deductions and receivables;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the market, including trends and competitors in the market;
  • Participation in industry events, trade shows, customer meetings, etc.
  • Responsible for the development of new private label portfolio; as well as maintenance of the current private label products;

Requirements:

  • University Degree or College Diploma with 7-10 years' of industry experience, with part of that time leading and managing a sales team;
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and expertise in consumer packaged goods; protein preferred
  • Proven track record with delivering results;
  • Proven ability to build business and relationships with existing customers;
  • Advanced computer skills including excel, word, power point and outlook.
  • Familiarity with Customer POS systems.
