Position Summary...

Responsible for development, implementation and continuous improvement, in partnership with Operations and consistent with the strategy defined by the Director, Environmental, Health & Safety, of the national health & safety program applicable to stores (including all elements of store-driven Omni), with a view to ensuring that stores in all jurisdictions are safe and compliant, and to provide a comfortable shopping experience for customers, and a hazard-free environment for associates consistent with our corporate vision to be the safest place to work and shop. Subject matter expert in provicial occupational health & safety legislation to support the design of appropriate physical layouts, equipment selection, operational routines, programmatic controls, training, monitoring and ongoing risk assessment.

What you'll do...

1. Responsible for development, implementation and continuous improvement, in partnership with Operations and consistent with the strategy defined by the Director, Environmental, Health & Safety, of the national health & safety program applicable to stores (including all elements of store-driven Omni), with a view to ensuring that stores in all jurisdictions are safe and compliant, and to provide a comfortable shopping experience for customers, and a hazard-free environment for associates consistent with our corporate vision to be the safest place to work and shop.
2. Partners directly with key leaders with Central Operations and Omni operations in order to embed fully health & safety design principles and programs, and effective governance into operational decision-making and execution, at the speed of the business as it evolves.
3. Designs controls, monitoring programs and analytics frameworks in order to maximize digitization, automation and simplicity of operational execution, while ensuring that appropriate leading and lagging indicators are measured and shared internally within Ethics & Compliance and with business stakeholders.
4. Regular review and monitoring of national regulatory trends related to OH&S, identifying gaps and trends through regulatory inspections, safety inspections, compliance monitoring assessments and external sources, with a view to informing the continuous improvement of the overall program.
5. Identify, approve, and partner with store operations and field partners to ensure the implementation of required corrective actions to address customer and associate accident trends, as well as program deficiencies identified through monitoring programs, feedback from business stakeholders and risk assessments.
6. Articulates corporate positions on health & safety matters to regulators and external agencies.
7. Develops external relationships and alliances strengthening the company's reputation within compliance community and supports regulatory outreach meetings, ensuring that the company's health & safety programs, policies, procedures and reports are communicated in a persuasive, accurate and understandable way and that sensitive data is protected.
8. Ensures that the company's health & safety programs are consistent with global direction and leverage global talent and resources, particularly across established centres of excellence within Walmart.
