What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, People for Walmart Global Tech Canada partners directly with senior leaders of the organization, supporting our Walmart Global Tech teams in Canada. This role provides a unique opportunity to partner with our Global Tech leaders to provide an exceptional experience for our Walmart Global Tech hub associates.

In this role you will:

  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance; accordingly, developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

  • Defines the human resources strategy to support assigned business area by understanding strategic business goals and objectives; advising on the execution of organizational change initiatives; assessing human resources implications of various strategies; providing guidance to business leaders on human resources issues.

  • Elevate the associate experience by understanding and answering associate questions. Understand the needs of our associates beyond what may be stated or obvious, identify the correct resources and teams to answer questions, and anticipate recurring or exceptional issues to minimize associate experience defects.

  • Advise leaders on a wide range of business and people topics, including talent management, associate relations, promotions, talent acquisition, organizational effectiveness, change management, and Walmart policies.

  • Collaborate with People teams in Global Tech, International, Walmart Canada, and US to share knowledge, optimize processes, and leverage resources across teams. Discern which processes/resources may be useful for the Global Tech workforce and advocate for the simplest solution for our associates.

  • Work with leaders and associates to cultivate a culture of belonging, diversity, inclusion, and engagement across teams. Model Walmart Leadership Expectations.

  • Execute all company people practices by anticipating and managing upcoming deadlines, inputs, and communication to relevant stakeholders.

  • Identify process and policy improvements with scalability and automation in mind. Where necessary create new processes, get rid of processes that no longer serve our associates, and implement new ones.

  • Anticipate emerging trends/topics and take appropriate steps to pre-empt any impact on associates (e.g., surfacing issues to right level of leadership, creating mitigation plans, etc.).

  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

  • Manages and monitors compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and company policies and procedures by keeping current on laws and regulations related to general human resource practices and regulations related to licensure and certification ; implementing and monitoring human resource compliance; implementing action plans to improve performance and reduce instances of non-compliance; and directing the management teams in ensuring confidentiality of information, documentation, and assigned records.

You will sweep us off your feet if you have experience with:

  • Evaluating and developing the effectiveness of HR strategic plans and executing initiatives to meet business needs.
  • Organizational design experience through medium to large scale organizational redesign or new builds
  • Owning and deploying a holistic talent management program (development planning, retention, engagement, succession and building pipeline)
  • Long-term Workforce Strategy or year-over-year headcount planning

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of HR practices and ability to drive consistent execution.

  • Global HR experience as well as Tech and Services experience.

  • Workforce re-deployment experience based on changing needs of the business.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
