We are looking for a Kitchen Supervisor to join our Healthy Planet family! Healthy Planet Kitchen is an in-store kitchen concept that aims to provide real, delicious, fresh food to our communities through the convenience of a quality chef-created menu. The menu consists of soups & salads, sandwiches & wraps, bowls, pizza's, cold press juices & smoothies, breakfast items, baked goods & snacks, all artfully prepared and assembled from scratch daily.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the full day-to-day operations of Healthy Planet Kitchen, maintaining the highest quality and standards of our products, ensuring that the execution of meals is accurate to the recipe specifications and food safety standards, making sure all inventory levels are up to par and additionally responsible for the training of new team members and the scheduling of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure necessary inventory is ordered to meet business demands, and product is rotated according to best before dates.
  • Schedule team members based on business demands.
  • Oversee, coach, and execute preparation of recipes in strict accordance with recipe specifications.
  • Memorize and be able to speak to the full menu offerings: unique ingredients, components, key differentiators, benefits, how it tastes, how it's assembled.
  • Drive sales by ensuring promotions are executed properly, artfully displaying menu items, setting up effective demo stations , and engaging with customers.
  • Ensure operational records such opening and closing procedures, fridge temperatures, dishwasher logs are completed.
  • Ensure Kitchen area, storage area and all equipment are cleaned and kept in proper working conditions. Coordinate repairs.
  • Provide food service to all guests, answering questions, upselling and accommodating special requests (if possible).
  • Motivate and keep the kitchen team engaged in order to provide high quality customer service.
  • Ensure all deliveries are received and put away accordingly and in a timely fashion.
  • Keep open communication with the Store manager, planning the week ahead and strategizing how to better drive sales.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to health & safety food regulations.
  • Ensure all food waste and food demos are recorded and removed from inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Must-Haves:

  • Previous Kitchen Management & Team Management experience, good knowledge of food handling & ingredients.
  • Food Handler Certification is an asset.
  • Experience with kitchen equipment (knives, ovens, stoves, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations regarding food preparation and/or nutrition; knowledge of and skill in the application of safety and sanitary requirements of a food service operation.
  • Proficient budgeting skills.
  • Work well under pressure within a team environment and also independently.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Enjoys teaching and coaching others.
  • Passion and drive for the Health and Wellness Culinary Space is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills - oral and written.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Flexible schedule.
